FAQ
How do Pioneer and V1 differ?
Pioneer is the early-access device available now. V1 is planned for December 2026 with 50% more battery capacity, revised hinge friction and a reading-oriented camera-lens refinement. Both are listed at US$599. The current Pioneer programme describes a complimentary V1 upgrade around the first year; earlier pre-order cohorts have separate terms. AGIGA covers subsequent upgrade shipping, while the initial shipment is paid by the user. The Pioneer return window normally ends once the upgrade is chosen; early pre-orders have an exception.
Can an upgrade use different lenses or frames?
AGIGA says the upgrade keeps the original lens configuration. Early-access customers who accepted clear lenses should receive the V1 configuration specified in their original form.
Does an upgrade start a new warranty period?
The manufacturer states that a new 12-month warranty begins when the upgraded V1 device is received.
Do founding customers keep their lifetime subscription?
AGIGA says eligible early supporters retain their complimentary service for the lifetime of their V1 hardware and that the entitlement transfers with the hardware upgrade.
Is an invitation still necessary?
No. AGIGA ended invitation-only ordering on June 10, 2026.
Can an old invitation still give subscription benefits?
Invitation codes are no longer needed, and the invitation promotion for six complimentary Independence months ended on June 10, 2026. Separate event or partner promotion codes may still be accepted by the manufacturer.
What can block an order on the manufacturer site?
Unavailable lens configurations or a shipping destination outside the United States and Canada can prevent an order. AGIGA directs users to its contact team for remaining problems.
What do the AI service tiers include?
Explorer is free and includes unlimited question-and-answer use, 5 Live AI minutes and 100 Reading Mode captures per month, plus a standard 12-month warranty. Independence is listed at an introductory US$9.99 per month with unlimited questions, 90 Live AI minutes and 1,000 reading captures, and can extend warranty coverage to 24 months while the tier stays active. Each reading capture counts once even if it covers two pages.
What happens when a monthly allowance is exhausted?
Users may move to a higher tier, wait for the next billing-cycle reset or purchase non-expiring top-ups. The examples listed are US$15 for 120 Live AI minutes and US$15 for 1,000 Reading Mode captures.
Are earlier pre-orders charged monthly?
AGIGA identifies an early pre-order cohort through October 2025 as Founding Pioneers and says their personal AI usage is included for the device lifetime. Eligibility and any historical order exceptions should be confirmed with AGIGA.
When is a phone needed?
The companion app is needed for initial setup and software updates. Away from a known Wi-Fi network, a phone hotspot normally supplies internet access. Once configured on Wi-Fi, the glasses can operate without the phone itself.
Is a separate mobile data contract needed?
No dedicated cellular plan is listed for the glasses. They use home or office Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot and its existing data plan.
Is a hotspot always necessary?
A hotspot is generally needed outdoors when another Wi-Fi connection is unavailable; the current AI services use Wi-Fi connectivity.
Which phones support the companion app?
The published minimums are an iPhone 8 or later with iOS 16.6 or newer, or an Android device running Android 11 or newer.
Do basic audio functions need a paid plan?
Bluetooth speaker and calling functions remain usable on the free tier.
Which functions remain available offline?
Advanced AI functions currently depend on the cloud. Bluetooth audio and local photo or video capture can still work offline. Offline reading/OCR is described as a future development rather than a current feature.
Can hearing aids be used?
AGIGA reports successful use with several hearing aids but asks users to provide their model for compatibility checks; compatibility is not guaranteed for every hearing aid.
Are prescription and tinted lenses offered?
Clear and tinted lenses and sunglasses clip-ons are described. Prescription orders require contacting AGIGA and may take longer. The selected Pioneer version currently shows some lens configurations as unavailable.
Can the glasses pass through airport screening?
The manufacturer says the glasses can travel through TSA screening without removal.
Which countries currently receive direct deliveries?
AGIGA currently lists direct shipping to the United States and Canada.
Which language is supported at launch?
The initial release supports English. Additional localisation is being considered.
What is the Pioneer trial and return window?
The normal Pioneer refund window is 30 days after delivery. Choosing a V1 upgrade normally removes return eligibility. Eligible pre-October-2025 customers instead have a 30-day window after receiving V1. Standard newly purchased V1 units also have a 30-day window; upgrade units are excluded.
What warranty applies to Pioneer?
The standard manufacturer warranty is 12 months for defects. A V1 upgrade starts a fresh 12-month period. Remaining on Independence may extend coverage to as much as 24 months.
Are software updates charged separately?
AGIGA describes software updates as free and delivered wirelessly through its companion app.
